As you go about your business today, always keep in mind how you can be of service to others. Service doesn’t have to be something huge or costly. Holding the door open for someone walking behind you is being of service. Smiling at someone who looks like they could use a happy face is being of service. Simply taking a moment to truly listen to someone is being of service.
There are two reasons to be of service to others. The first, and most important, is it’s kind. And we should always strive to be kind. Kindness reflects well on you, and it’s contagious. There is just never enough kindness in the world, so feel free to spread a little around by being of service. The second is karma. You receive from the universe what you give out. But here’s where it gets tricky. If you are of service to others because of the expectation of return on investment, then you’re actually being greedy. And the universe will be greedy towards you as well. To truly be of service it must be done with generosity, selflessness, and again, kindness.
So as your day progresses and you see an opportunity to be of service, no matter what that opportunity may be, take it. They’ll be happier. You’ll be happier. And that makes the world a happier place. Have a great day.
